"No," Rythian whispered. "Zoey... Zoey please-"
Zoey pressed herself against the cold wall. Her chest screamed for air, her eyes were swimming with tears. "I-I can't."
A forcefield seperated Zoey and Rythian. A thin, powerful blue line unable to be penatrated. Zoey had the remote Lalna had forced her to take, the one that would disable the forcefield but cause Rythian's enderman side to control his own.
"I want you to be free," Rythian slammed his fist against the field, suddenly awake with anger. "I want you to live, I want you to survive. I don't care if I become one of those = things." He forces the last word out. "I'd sacrafice myself to let you live, you know that."
Zoey's hand trembled. "I won't let you," her voice broke. "I can't - Rythian -"
Rythian pressed his hand against the blue wall. "Zoey, I..."
"Well, well. What a lovely reunion we have here." Lalna smiled as he casually walked down the stairs. His white coat was spotless, his goggles placed over his eyes. He had a fixed smile, as if he couldn't help showing his glee.
"So help me I will-" Rythian raised his Katar.
"Ah, ah-ah! Lay a finger on me I spawn sixty four Endermen inside of that cage. Would you like to see your friends torture your lovely Zoey to insainity?"
Rythian snarled. "You couldn't."
"You forget, my good sir, that I can op-ed, which means..." Lalna waved a hand and Zoey started to choke, her hands flew to her throat.
"Stop!" Rythian shouted. Zoey slumped to the ground, breathing shallowly.
"Now you see." Lalna smiled.
"What do you have against me?" Rythian growled. "What do you want from us?"
Lalna smiled even wider. "Ah, I love these scenes in the movies. Something you love trapped and you'd give anything for it. Such a soap opra. I love how they end, aswell, the hero giving up his strength and powers so his lover can survive. Then the bad guy kills the hero, letting the girl run and her heart is broken. That reminds me, Jarvis? Bring me some popcorn!"
"I said," Rythian grit his teeth. "What do you want from us?"
Lalna took the popcorn from Jarvis and started munching on it loudly. "Well, not exactly from Zoey. I want you to become my killing machine. You will have to serve me and obey my orders or I will track down this lovely Zoey and behead her in front of your very eyes."
"Rythian," Zoey breathed, her golden eyes glazed over with pain. "Don't...."
Rythian didn't awknowledge her. "And if I were to kill you now?"
"Oh you can't, if you did this place would come crashing down. Right before you died you'd hear Zoey screaming in pain as I had Jarvis crush her bones."
"And if I were to leave?" Rythian snapped, ignoring Zoey's sharp intake of breath.
"If you were to leave, I'd pull out her heart and replace her brain with a computer chip. She'd become my killing machine and kill all the innocent before you could even say, 'Pie.'"
"You've got sixty seconds to say your goodbyes, just because I'm nice." Lalna snapped his fingers and Jarvis moved, revealing a metal door. Lalna stepped through and then Zoey, Rythian and Jarvis were alone.
Rythian placed his hand against the field. "Zoey," he whispered.
The technomage stared at him through watered eyes. "I-I can't let you live like that, Rythian."
Rythian closed his eyes for a second, his thoughts flying at a million miles per second. "Please, Zoey," his voice broke. "Please for the sake of my love for you, press the button. I can control him, but I can't bear to watch you in pain. I love you, Zoey. Always know I love you."
Tears streamed down her face. "I love you, too, Rythian."
Rythian pressed his hand to his side of the blue force, and she did on the other.
"Press the button," Rythian's voice was hard. "Press it, Zoey."
The iron door flew open and Lalna strode back in. "Come to an agreement?"
"Yes," Zoey said shakily. "Let him go and kill me."
"No!' Rythian shouted.
Lalna let out a harsh laugh. "Not an agreement, eh? We'll do plan B, then."
He pressed a button his remote. Zoey screamed as the blue wall became red and her body was thrown into a series of jerks and spasms.
"Zoey!' Rythian roared. His vision lurched and he collasped on the ground, twitching. "No!" he whispered. "Zoey, no!"
Lalna's laughter filled the air as Zoey's screeches of pain echoed off the walls. The world became blury and hazy. Suddenly pain exploded in his chest, it was as if his soul was being ripped in two. He realized what Lalna had done. When you press this button, Zoey, the human side of Rythian will be stripped away It wasn't just the human side. It was Rythian's metal compasity. His love for Zoey, watching the girl he loved be tortured.
Rythian let out a scream against his will as his black cloak started to smother him. It wrapped around and around him, swathing his body with the black velvet. His vision went purple - his emotions left him, all he could hear was buzzing.
----
Rythian bolted upright in bed, his sheets tangled around him. He was drenched in cold sweat, clawing at his throat while his blankets strangled him.
"Rythian?"
Zoey was leaning in the doorway, her golden eyes reflecting concern. She was still in her PJs, her long hair cascadng down her back. "I couldn't sleep, I thought some fresh air would do me good."
Rythian waited a moment before he stopped hyperventalating. He untangled himself and the bedsheets before he trusted himself to speak. "I.... uh, had a dream."
"More like a nightmare," she muttered, her eyes tinted with a twinge of fear.
She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Rythian's waist. Rythian buried his face in her hair, hoping the familiar scent would calm him. She was shaking.
"I thought - Lalna could..." Rythian started.
Zoey hugged him tighter. "Promise me if in the end it comes down between Lalna and you, you'll hear him out before you kill him? Promise me if I'm trapped and you have to decide between saving me and yourself, you'll save yourself? Promise me?" she whispered fiercely.
"Zoey..." Rythian murmured.
"Promise me," she growled, turning his chin so he'd look directly at her. "Promise me that in a battle you'd save yourself."
"I can't, Zoey...."
"Rythian," she snapped.
Rythian glared at her for a moment before sighing. "I promise I'll protect you with my own life."
Zoey rolled her eyes. "Didn't you hear a word I just said?"
Rythian slipped his hand under her knees and swung her up in a princess carry. "Yes, I did. And I detest most of them."

Changeless
The best feeling, Rythian decided, was falling into bed after a hard day of being in the desert. After spending nearly two months in the desert; he had come to the conclusion that he hated it there. The sun never ceased to shine, it was always stifling hot, and he always managed to get sand in very uncomfortable places.
He missed Blackrock with its shady trees and soft grassy forest floors. The way the water of their lake lapped against the shore in the night was one of the most surreal sounds he had ever heard and something that never failed to calm him.
Now, however, all he heard was the insistent howl of the wind over the sand and the occa

Fury
Zoey knew that Rythian could get angry. She had heard anger turn his usually smooth voice steely, and she had seen his eyes flash that toxic shade of violet before, but she had never seen him truly furious, truly vengeful.
It had started the night before. He had sat bolt upright in bed in the middle of the night, shoulders stiff, eyes searching the desert darkness outside their shelter. Zoey had looked as well, straining her blue eyes but seeing nothing other than moonlight and the normal items that sat scattered around their base.
“Rythian, what is it?” she’d tugged lightly on his sleeve as he’d gotten up o

Aboard the Enderbane
Rythian carefully adjusted his facemask with one hand as his dull, plum colored cloak flapped in the breeze. The man’s other hand, bound like the first from the middle of his forearm to the bases of his fingers in crisp beige linen, rested steadily on the wheel of his ship Enderbane. Far below, the ground spread out like a patchwork quilt of blue and green; they were flying over a forest now, dotted here and there with lakes. Closing his violet eyes, Rythian smiled as a gentle breeze blew through his hair; the creaking of the ship’s rigging was like music to his sensitive ears.
There was a skritching sound as his first mate
